baltimore and across maryland. had some big thunderstorms out there at times today. a lot of that activity now clearing us to the east but we will still be dealing with some rain this evening. let's take a look at where that rain is right now. maryland's most powerful radar, we have been tracking the storms here all afternoon, you can check out our latest radar picture abc2news.com off the weather page. a big storm up here toward rockville, other than that a lot of this activity has now picked to pushed to the east of baltimore. on the eastern shore from centreville up through chester town you're still getting clobbered with some pretty heavy rain here, one heavy downpour now moving toward the bel air area, you can see as i move in here, there is a pretty decent little storm here, again, just north it would appear, of bel air. so a brief heavy downpour to be encountered in that direction. let's take you to the visible satellite. clouds holding tough for now, we may see a little bit of clearing, i want to give you an early look at tomorrow. 87 or so, mostly cloudy, there will be that chance

rains falling in western maryland. ultimately, out of this line of storms, got up to 2 1/2 inches or better than of that rain. now, we advance this to 9:00, and it's still raining pretty well. it's coming into frederick, and frederick got over an inch of rain, and then the light just kind of falls apart. it's like it gets near baltimore and it says, no, i'm want going to do that. so at 3:00 this morning, we saw a few sprinkles and showers around the area. we're beginning to see a little more activity, but it's still not very heavy. the front still coming in though today. the air is loaded with moisture, so we're hoping this front will trigger locally heavy rain, at least from time to time. we'll talk about the forecast details in just a moment. >> our big story this morning, the biggest spy swap isn't he happened of the cold war has a cockeysville connection. >> a former western colonel is one of four spies released from prison in exchange for russian agents being held in the u.s. as it turns out, alexander zaporozhsky owns a home in baltimore county. david collins has the story.

on him during a traffic stop in maryland last year. now thanks to a plea deal, west will stay out of jail but he won't stay out from under court supervision. derek ward is live in the newsroom with the latest. >> reporter: it started with a traffic stop on the beltway near route 214 on september 17th of last year. prince george's county said that he was driving his three-wheel motorcycle recklessly. when he was pulled over, eltd officers he was armed. he called for back-up. when they searched west and his vehicle, they found three loaded weapons, a loaded remmington shotgun and a guitar case. a .9 millimeter about a rhetta. he had a knife. a guilty plea on weapons and reckless driving charges got west two years probation and eight months home detention. >> i wanted to make sure he was treated the same way any other defendant would be treated in coming through the courthouse here. that's pretty much what people get for this kind of offense. >> reporter: west's attorney said the nba star was moving the weapons from a home he shares with his mother in ft. washington to one he owns in brandyw

that stretch from northeastern maryland right down to near chestertown and just about 20 miles to the west of oxford and st. michael's. there is another cluster of some showers and thundershowers near the blackwater national wildlife refuge just to the southeast of cambridge. those two are heading off to the west and will be crossing the bay in another hour or so. if they hold together, they will be moving into anne arundel and calvert and st. mary's counties and perhaps up toward baltimore in about another two hours, it appears, is the timing right now. the temperatures are in the mid-80s from washington and all around the suburbs around the beltway. prince george's county, arlington, fairfax and montgomery in the low to mid-80s, right near the bay with the wind coming in, it's near 80 degrees. right now, ocean city is at 83. the dew point is 78. that is oppressive humidity. our dew point is ten degrees cooler. it is still rather humid even at 68. theirs is 78 at ocean city. right now, out of the mountains, in the low 80s there, not quite as humid in western maryland and much of west virg
